The Absolute

You don't do degrees. Either someone is trusted completely or not at all. Middle ground feels unstable.

What this type means

The Absolute pattern uses binary trust assignment rather than graduated trust. This pattern is often linked in the clinical literature to fearful-avoidant attachment or to early environments where conditional love was unavailable — making degrees of trust feel unsafe. Roughly 8–12% of the population.

In relationships

Your inner circle gets total faith; everyone else stays outside. When someone moves from outside to inside, it's sudden and total. Same when they fall.

Watch for

Binary trust means no graceful demotion. Someone who's let you down can't become "less trusted" — they get expelled. The cost is repeated severing of otherwise good relationships.

The growth edge

Practice tiered trust deliberately. "I trust her with logistics; not with secrets" — get comfortable with degrees. Otherwise every breach becomes existential.
