What this type means

The Caretaker is the child who was emotionally responsible for the parents (or younger siblings) before they had the developmental capacity for it. The technical term is parentification. Often present in households with parental illness, addiction, or extended absence. The adult pattern: over-functioning in relationships, difficulty receiving care, identity built around being the dependable one.
