What this type means
The Threatened pattern shows high threat sensitivity with defensive responses to status moves. Often present in people who experienced early-life status loss or who lived in environments where status was scarce and zero-sum. The pattern is responsive to environmental change but requires conscious work.
In relationships
You're sensitive — sometimes accurately reading slights others miss, sometimes seeing slights that weren't there. The cost: defensiveness around peers, especially during their wins.
Watch for
High threat sensitivity is often rooted in earlier experiences. The body learned to register status loss as danger. Notice when current reactions are sized for past situations.
The growth edge
Practice "win-witnessing" — when a peer wins, deliberately notice your reaction without acting on it. Over time, the threat signal de-couples from the action. The reading is still there; you're less hijacked by it.
